History of the Great Grand Theft Auto franchise with details

Developed by Rockstar North, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has been shaping the video game culture enormously since almost twenty years, and at the same time has gained critical criticism as well as public debate.

Nowadays, there are productions that are regarded as touchstone in every game type. These productions were not only stamped on the world of games but also inspired various games and directed the game sector.

One of the most popular gaming styles of our day, the root of the open world theme is based on GTA, Grand Theft Auto.

The open world theme, which is a gaming system where people can walk around in their hearts and wishes, was first literally processed in the GTA 3 game.

How did the GTA series start with $ 1 billion worth of signatures in 3 days with the last game? Here is the beginning of the legend.

GTA 1 (1997)

The first game of the GTA series was released by DMA Desing in 1997. GTA 1 for PlayStation 1, Windows, MS-DOS and Gameboy Color was a two-dimensional game with a bird’s-eye view camera.

Although we did not have a sound story system, the gaming duties of the various gang leaders made it possible for the players to announce their name in a short period of time.

Following the release of the first game of the GTA, two additional packages were sold, Grand Theft Auto: London 1961 and Grand Theft Auto: London 1969. These additional packages add more cars and tasks to the game.

GTA 2 (1999)

The second game of the GTA legend was offered for sale in 1999, two years after the first game. GTA 2, which was sold for PlayStation 1, Dreamcast, Windows and Gameboy Color, had the same first game as a bird’s eye view camera.

GTA 2, which went from the first game’s footsteps, provided players with a slightly deeper scenario and better visuals.

But in terms of the platforms it has developed, GTA 2 could not have gone so far in the visual direction. Being in the form of a bird’s eye view of the camera angle, it did not want the images to be improved further.

The DMA later stated that they wanted to develop GTA 2 in 3D, but at the time, such a game had stated that it was unlikely that the consoles would be removed.

GTA 3 (2001)

The most important rise of the GTA series was realized with GTA 3, which was published in 2001. By 2000, the DMA had changed its name to Rockstar North.

With the release of PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2000, Rockstar’s biggest obstacle in front of what they wanted to do was removed.

Along with the development of hardware options, Rockstar has carried out a broader form of the GTA world and made important steps towards an open world theme. Rockstar Games, which changed the camera angle with GTA 3, shifted to TPS from bird’s-eye viewpoint and was an inspiration to open-world games.

After the release of GTA 3, the number of open world-driven games has also increased rapidly, and such games have begun to be described as “GTA style games”.

GTA Vice City (2002)

The biggest leap of the GTA was the 2002 GTA Vice City game. Using the same gaming engine and dynamics as GTA 3, the production went to the city of Vice City, based on the city of Miami.

Within the GTA series, GTA Vice City was the most explosive game in our country. It was GTA Vice City, one of the most played productions in internet cafes, even though there were no PCs or consoles in each user’s home at those times.

GTA Vice City for PC, OSX, PS2 and Xbox, later on iOS, FireOS and Android.

GTA San Andreas (2004)

Presented by Rockstart in 2004, GTA San Andreas was one of the most innovative productions of the GTA series. In general, many of the dinosaurs used in GTA 5 were originally based on GTA San Andreas.

Making reference to the concept of gangs in the cities, the production had a long play period as in other GTA games.

The GTA series has always been the target of arrows of criticism, including the San Andreas game.

Although GTA games generally have a wide range of storytelling, the superficial processing of the story has prevented game lovers from internalizing the game. This problem has been removed with the GTA 4 game.

GTA 4 (2008)

With Rockstar, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on sale, 2008 made a major breakthrough. The sequence of the GTA series was changed once again with GTA 4 after GTA 3.

Rockstar, along with GTA 4, released a superficial storyline leaving an edge and an introductory production with a deep story fiction for gamers.

The production, which was offered for sale after 4 years from San Andreas, was a GTA game that had exceeded anticipation and had the highest review score with GTA 5.

GTA 4, released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, also had a significant impact on the next generation of open-world games.

GTA The Lost and Damned (2009)

The fact that GTA 4 was highly appreciated by gaming lovers, Rockstar also strengthened his hand.

Starting production in 2008, Rockstar North has launched additional package work, selling GTA The Lost and Damned, which was launched in 2009 as the first add-on to GTA 4 (this game is the same as GTA Vice City and San Andreas) was made)

GTA The Lost and Damned, although strong in structure based on the story side, was hardly held by players. Rockstar was initially unable to reach the expected sales figures even though it was released globally in the aftermath of the sale in limited areas.

GTA The Ballad of Gay Tony (2009)

With the expected success with GTA The Lost and Damned, which was released right at the beginning of 2009, Rockstar had just passed the B plan.

Under normal conditions, GTA planned to be released in 2010, the Ballad of Gay Tony was launched in late 2009 with the release date on the foreground.

GTA for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 The Ballad of Gay Tony focused on the story of a gay character, as the name implies.

This game was far behind Rockstar’s anticipations. The Ballad of Gay Tony was a story-based production like The Lost and Damned.

GTA 5 (2013)

The meaning of the open world word has been reshaped by GTA 5, which was published in 2013. GTA 5 promised the players the freedom they did not offer any map, and no game at all.

GTA 5, launched in 2013, has a structure that pushes the boundaries of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to the end. When GTA 5 system requirements were released for PCs, it became a focus of attention in the world of technology. The GTA 5 system requirements were extremely low, but could have caused problems on some computers. Of course the GTA 5 system requirements were not bad because the game was bad. In Rockstar PC, GTA 5, which was released in 2015, had a great optimism.

Rockstar, for the first time in the history of the GTA, the three main characters have combined under the same game. The Rockstar officials, who created a perfect storyline in spite of the 3 different characters, offered a great experience to gamers.

The highly anticipated GTA 5 all over the world has earned Rockstar $ 1 billion in the first three days of production. In the short run, GTA 5, which ranks in 2nd place in the list of best selling games of all time, is still in the top 10 in the ranking of best sellers in most countries despite the 2 years that have passed through its output.
